Another steady drive today to get to Roanoke, VA. Hell of a job trying to find the hotel as the sat nav couldn’t find it and there were no signs to the hotel like you normally see.

Eventually, I saw a group of hotels and we decided to stop there to see if we could find it or if not go and ask at another hotel or phone them. Fortunately, we did find it. When we checked in I told the woman on reception that we had difficulty finding it and she said, yes everyone does. Well, that’s okay then!

The hotel is new and all the fixtures and fittings are very modern and lovely. The bathroom is especially nice. Also, the tv has an online programme display, unusual in this type of hotel, but welcome.

There is a mall just down the road so as we had been driving all day we took a walk around it for some exercise. The Valley View Mall is not the most brilliant mall, but it passed an hour.

Didn’t fancy the food court options so went next door to TGI Fridays. Chris had a burger and I had chicken and mash, both very nice. We started with loaded potato skins. The total bill was only $28. Brilliant value.
